Our story

DocStow started in Wellington in 2025, after our founder missed a vehicle registration renewal by eleven days and paid the price in both money and stress. The paperwork was all there — scattered across email, paper piles, and three different cloud drives — it just wasn't organized. We set out to build the tool we wished we'd had: a single, encrypted place for every important document, with smart reminders that actually fire before a deadline, not after.

What we believe

Family life generates a mountain of paperwork. Passports, visas, birth certificates, insurance policies, tenancy agreements, school forms, vehicle inspections and registrations, medical records, wills, warranties — the list never stops growing. We believe managing it shouldn't feel like a second job. DocStow is built on three principles:

• Your data is yours. We never sell it, share it, or use it to train AI models. Ever.
• Privacy is non-negotiable. Every document is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3, stored in secure, certified data centers.
• Simple beats clever. If your grandmother can't use it, we haven't finished building it yet.

Where we're headed

We're just getting started. Over the next year we're building shared family calendars, an AI assistant that reads your documents and answers questions about them, bank-grade encrypted sharing with professionals (your lawyer, accountant, doctor), and native iOS and Android apps.
